Adam Kroll and The Case for the Artistic Soul

We’re invited to check Adam Kroll’s newest photo exhibition “Spirits”, at Galerie Display, Cologne, Germany, and FFO is lucky to showcase three high res previews from his show!

I have this conception that an artistic soul expresses itself artistically in everything it does, and therefore it can manifest plenary in any art, if it can handle the specific tools.
Adam Kroll is one of the people who empirically prove this credo (more to be featured on our website). From techno sensation to photography wizard, through dub and sound design, Adam did it and moved graciously in between.

He released techno and house music under major umbrellas like Traum and Global Underground, he was featured on the first DubKraft/FFO podcast and his EP on DubKraft is a gem! Check the players below and call us out if we’re lying!

+++

Currently taking an indefinite break from sound and following another calling, Adam’s hypnotism manifests itself again, this time using photography as medium. If you take a few seconds to look at his powerful portraits, you become haunted by a gaze, a skin texture or the whole composition. You will want to dwell more in that presence and its spirit will stay with you afterwards. Much like a good tune!

So, after what you’ve seen, heard and read, I think the “artistic soul” case is already strong enough, and you can find more proof by hitting the links below:

If that’s still not enough for you, just keep following FFO, all I’m saying!

SHOWCASE: AKEMARROPA

In Barcelona - Spain, and around, if it looks dope, the fabric feels great and the manufacture is top notch, then it may be Akemarropa.
A Kemar Ropa = A Quemar Ropa = “Let’s Burn Clothes” in Spanish.
I knew you’ll enjoy that explanation! :)
Akemarropa is in fact one amazing woman. She designs, cuts, saws, sells… she thinks she’s her own boss, but, as I see it sometimes, she’s her own sweatshop too. So I got to admire the character behind the admirable clothes.
 Now it’s your turn!

SHOWCASE: EL DIMITRY

El Dimitry aka Dimito aka El Dubmitry makes it very difficult to write about him. I’ve been knowing him personally for a few years, but I feel I don’t know him enough to have a personal point of view. He’s been around a lot, but I can’t find him now to ask him a few questions. He’s been making music and painting for many years, but I have no clue what is he gonna come up with tomorrow. I’ve seen from his Facebook that he’s painting a house these days.
So I think this is not going to be one of those reviews. Let’s just listen to his music and stare a bit at these works.

Hailing from India, Archann is already quite a star in the world of visual arts, collaborating with MTV, Canon, Nike, Tiger Beer, Sony etc. Archan has been featured in various publications including Computer Arts, Digital Arts, Advanced Photoshop, GQ, Vanity Fair, and has achieved recognition from Kanye West.
Yet not so many people know his amazing experiments in sound, his glitchy noisescapes and twisted grooves easily match the quality of his visuals and we took on the job of exposing all his talents to our audience.
So here’s his debut with our label and also enjoy his illustrations for this release and for Op. Log 014.

Among the FFO/DubKraft supporters, Edoc has already an established reputation, outside the community he’s growing by the day. So his job now would be to keep keeping up. Well, this track will engrave his name in your memory for good, this is how emotional, technical and darkly erotic it is! Artwork by Archann. [Op. Log 014]
